Every young person should think about this. Poverty isn't always the absence of money. Sometimes, a person is earning money and still living in poverty because the problem isn't the money. It's the system of their life. Poverty can be disorder. Ignorance. Fear. Bad decisions. Poor relationships. Laziness. Even refusing to learn. You can put money in the hands of someone whose habits, decisions and mindset are working against that money, and it will disappear. This is one area I think the church needs to do better. We shouldn't only teach people how to pray against poverty. We should also teach people how to think, work, plan, create value, manage money and build character. Because prayer is powerful, but prayer doesn't cancel principles. You can't keep asking God for harvest while ignoring the seed, the soil, the discipline and the process. I believe God can give a man the power to make wealth. But the man still has to learn. He still has to develop skills. He still has to make better decisions. He still has to manage what comes into his hands. Sometimes, the poverty we're fighting isn't just in our pockets. It's in our habits, our thinking and the way we live. And until that changes, more money may not change much. Maybe what we need isn't only more money. Maybe we need to become better managers of whatever God puts in our hands. — Truth Godwin
